Pinocchio Coachman Animation Drawing (Disney, 1940) In a waterfront tavern, the evil Coachman reveals to Honest John and Gideon what he really plans to do with the boys that are sold to him: shortly, they will all be transformed into little donkeys and shipped off to work in the salt mines! The Coachman lures the young thugs and street children with the prospect of indulging in forbidden adult vices: drinking, smoking, and gambling on far off Pleasure Island. This is an amazing drawing- an ideal pose of this hulking character which perfectly captures his sinister nature. The Coachman measures 8" x 5" and is rendered in graphite, with atmospheric shadow effects added in colored pencil. Small notes are written beneath the character in colored pencil. They say "don't leave elbow off" and "Reg BG". Stamped text in bottom right reads "Prod 2003 Seq 7 Scene 34". Beneath that, in graphite, sequential numbering "52". Slight age-related yellowing of paper. Very minor creases near Coachman's right arm, and toward the top left of the 12F paper. Light handling and edge wear. In Fine condition.
