Pinocchio Blue Fairy Layout Drawing by Joe Grant (Walt Disney, 1940). Joe Grant, long time story artist and character designer and the man who started the Disney Character Model Department, told a story of writing down gags, folding them up and showing to Walt Disney when he got the chance. This is a folded rough sketch of Pinocchio when he meets the Blue Fairy for the second time, lies, and his nose grows. A few other sketches are on the page. Joe Grant is a Disney Legend Inductee; he worked four days a week at Disney up to his 97th birthday. Dialogue of "My this is a surprise" and "Well this is a pleasant surprise" are also on the sketch. The art is in graphite on folded 12 field 5-peghole paper. The gag drawing is hand-signed by Joe Grant (1908-2005). What an amazing look into the making of this classic film! Folds, minor handling and edge wear. Good condition.
