Description
Peter Pan Mr. Smee Gag Drawing (Walt Disney, 1940s). Smee marks out the names at roll call of the animators who won't be attending in this original studio gag drawing. The names that are eliminated could be a result of the Disney Studio strike or possibly the men who went of to fight in WWII. As one would expect of Disney artists, it's an expertly rendered pastel drawing of an early version of Smee. Peter Pan was originally was planned as Disney's second film, but copyright issues and the onset of a world war delayed production until it was finally green-lighted in 1949. This original one-of-a-kind artwork features names of some of Disney's top artists including T. Hee, Ted Sears and, Ham Luskee. The 7" x 5" image is on a sheet of 5-peghole animation paper trimmed to 9" x 8" and is numbered 31 in both the left and right lower corners. The piece shows handling, smudges and pinholes.
