Description

Peter Pan Captain Hook Animation Drawing (Walt Disney, 1953). This drawing of Captain Hook was created by a Disney animator in production of the animated feature Peter Pan, and a cel painting was made directly from it. The scene appears during the climactic struggle between Hook and Peter Par aboard the pirate's ship. Seen in action near the 1:10:17 timestamp when the Captain pursues Peter Pan into the rigging daring Peter to face him: "Ha-ha-ha, you wouldn't dare fight old Hook man to man. You'd fly away like a cowardly sparrow." Wolfgang Reitherman (1909 - 1985), one of Walt Disney's master animators known as his "Nine Old Men", supervised the animation of this scene. Rendered in graphite and colored pencils, Hook measures approximately 12" x 7" on a 16 field 3-peghole animation sheet. Featured on the bottom left corner is a stamp of the drawing's production codes. With light production handling and edge wear, including surface wrinkling on the left side of the page that partially crosses Hook's sword, and slight age-related toning. Overall, this piece is in Very Good condition.
