Description

Peter Pan Animation Drawing (Walt Disney, 1953). Showcased in this lot is a fabulous rough animation drawing featuring the 'Boy Who Wouldn't Grow Up,' Peter Pan! Crafted during the production of Walt Disney's 14th animated feature length film directed by Hamilton Luske, Clyde Geronimi, and Wilfred Jackson. Released to theatres on 2/5/1953, the film was the studio's last production in which all the members of Walt's Nine Old Men worked together as directing animators with Milt Kahl supervising Peter. Rendered in graphite and red color pencil, Peter measures approximately 3.5" x 5" on the 16 field 3-peg hole paper. In traditional animation, the first step is the rough construction, which is called roughs or rough animation. Rough animation is created first to establish position, style, and timing for movement on screen. This is the skeleton of the animation. The leaning pose shares the same attitude of Peter at about 10:39 timestamp when Peter glances down at Nana tied in the yard. With minor handling and edge wear from production, light age-toning, a creased lower left corner, and a tear near the middle peghole. This lot is in Very Good condition.
