Description

Peter Pan Animation Drawing (Walt Disney, 1953). The boy who wouldn't grow up pounds his chest and crows like a rooster in this outstanding original rough animation drawing from the 1953 Disney classic Peter Pan. This remarkable film in the production history of the Disney studio, being the last film in which all the members of Walt's Nine Old Men worked together as directing animators. Peter Pan's rough figure measures approximately 2.25" x 7" rendered in graphite pencil on trimmed sheet of 16 field animation paper, now measuring 15.5" x 11.75". In traditional animation, the first drawings are called "roughs" or "rough animation" because they are often done in a very loose style. Rough animation is created first to establish position, style, and timing for movement on screen. These animations are also good practice in lending insight on how character's design and personality come across in motion. From an undiscerned sequence in the film, this drawing is possibly a character animation test. Displaying Peter Pan in an iconic pose, this piece of production artwork is a gem for Disney and animation collections. With mild handling and edge wear, slight age-related toning, light textured wrinkling, brown paper remnants from production (that were often used as peg hole supports), a torn upper right corner, and the mentioned trim to the page. Overall, this piece is in Very Good condition.
