Description
Peter Ellenshaw - Seascape Original Painting (c. 1980-90s). Presented in this lot is an outstanding miniature seascape by Disney Legend, Peter Ellenshaw (1913 - 2007). At his Disney Legend induction ceremony in 1993, Roy E. Disney said, "Peter was a Disney legend in every sense of the word... he was a fantastic painter in his own right, and I always loved his Irish paintings and felt that he did the best seascapes in the world." This brilliant little seascape was painted on 5" x 7" canvas board. The piece is framed to 13" x 11" and hand-signed in paint by the artist. Ellenshaw has received numerous awards from many prestigious institutions. Among them the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the American Film Institute in Chicago. With well over 50 films to his credit, Peter would receive five Academy Award® nominations, taking home the OSCAR® for his stunning recreation of Edwardian London in Walt Disney's, Mary Poppins. With only a finite number of original Ellenshaw seascapes in existence, this a rare opportunity to acquire one of these highly prized paintings! Fine condition. Frame is sold as-is.From the Peter and Harrison Ellenshaw Family Archive.
