Peculiar Penguins Publicity Drawing (Walt Disney, 1934). An adorable image from the 1934 Silly Symphony short, Peculiar Penguins. The short subject film was produced by Walt Disney and directed by Wilfred Jackson. In the short, Peter catches a fish to show his love for Polly. This charming image was rendered in graphite over red pencil on 12 field unpunched animation paper. The piece is attributed to the hand of Tom Wood (1887 - 1940). Wood was a staff artist with the Disney Publicity Art Department from 1932 to 1940. Between 1934 and 1940, he created promotional text comics based on Disney cartoons for the magazine Good Housekeeping. He was also a cover illustrator for Mickey Mouse Magazine. Mild toning with a fold crease in the center. Overall condition is Very Good.
