Peanuts Charlie Brown and Snoopy Show "It's Arbor Day, Charlie Brown" Animation Layout Drawing (Bill Melendez, 1976). It's Arbor Day, Charlie Brown premiered on the CBS 3/16/76, which is near the dates in which most U.S. states observe Arbor Day, a secular holiday devoted to planting trees. Here is a wonderful layout drawing featuring Lucy as she says, "Don't forget the shovel." You will see this sequence around the 10:17 time mark. Layouts begin after the designs are completed and approved by the director. The layout process is the same as the blocking out of shots by a cinematographer on a live-action film. This fantastic layout was rendered in color pencil on 12 field animation paper. The pegholes have been repositioned using tape. The piece has mild edge wear.
