Description

Peabody's Improbable History Sherman and Mr. Peabody Layout Drawing (Jay Ward, c. 1959-60). "Sherman, set the WABAC Machine for...." The time-traveling adventures of a super-intelligent dog named Peabody and his "pet boy" Sherman made for a consistently enjoyable segment on The Rocky and Bullwinkle Show, even with Peabody's groan-inducing puns at the end of every cartoon! Here they are in a SUPER RARE original 12 field animation layout drawing. So little original production art survives from any of the early animated series from Jay Ward due to misguided housecleaning, and it's always amazing when something like this does turn up. The drawing of Sherman pointing to a book being read by Mr. Peabody is in graphite with red pencil guidelines, including a "television screen" outline; the overall image size is approximately 6" x 5". The 12 field sheet has some paper loss in the lower left corner (away from the image), with handling and edge wear, and some age-related paper toning; professional restoration is recommended. The condition is Fair to Good.
