Description

Oswald the Lucky Rabbit Gag Drawing by Laverne Harding (Walter Lantz, c. 1930s). Animation legend Laverne Harding (1905 - 1984), one of the very first American female animators, began her 50-year career working at the Walter Lantz Studio; she worked there from 1934 to 1960, spending most of her time working on Woody Woodpecker shorts. Here's what is believed to be the earliest drawings by Ms. Harding. This is a gag drawing of Oswald the Lucky Rabbit in an Easter-themed specialty gag drawing for her sister, Muriel. This historic graphite on 12.5" x 10" paper drawing is inscribed as "Very Happy Easter, Mu - Sis" in the lower right. Paper is heavily toned and brittle, and is in Fair condition.
From the Walter Lantz Legendary Animator Laverne Harding Archive.
