Officer Duck Sequence of 7 Donald Duck Animation Drawings Sequence of 7 (Walt Disney, 1939). Busted!! Not only has Officer Donald been sleeping in his patrol car, but he is also illegally parked, having run into a fire hydrant! (One can only imagine the glee he would take in giving someone else a ticket for the very same thing!) This film was released on October 10, 1939. Clyde Geronimi, who would go on to direct feature-length films at the studio, directed this short. The original bad guy of the Disney Universe, Peg Leg Pete (here, sans peg), plays the part of criminal Tiny Tom. Donald unwisely assumes that with a name like that, Tiny Tom should be easy to apprehend. After many attempts, firearm exchanges, and an elaborate ruse in which Donald spends more than half of the short dressed up like an abandoned orphan, Pete/Tom is finally taken in... by a marching parade of police officers! Donald is sprawled out in the front seat of his patrol car, with his policeman's cap and jacket. Drawings are rendered in graphite with colored pencil notes for the Ink & Paint Department. Six of the seven drawings depict Donald in full-body images. In two drawings, his bottom half has been rendered in colored pencil. This was to denote that for the span of two exposed frames of movie film, it was not necessary to re-trace his entire body, since his bottom half would remain stationary. His different "levels" could be animated separately, thereby cutting down on unnecessary effort while the film was in production. One of the included drawings depicts the old-fashioned police radio in Donald's patrol car. Very minor handling with minimal creasing. Slight toning of paper. All six drawings of Donald are in Good to Very Good condition. The drawing of the police radio (animated separately) has significant creasing to the edges, however the hand-drawn image is unaffected. This one drawing is in Fair condition.
