Description

Mysterious Mose Early Betty Boop Animation Drawing (Max Fleischer, 1930). Although it's largely been forgotten now, Betty Boop began as a poodle! She was designed as a girlfriend for Fleischer Studios star Bimbo the dog; eventually her long poodle ears became hoop earrings. Here's a very early original rough animation drawing of a full-figure Betty from only her third cartoon appearance. She's still with her "dog ears," looking startled from the stormy night outside. Grim Natwick was animator on this cartoon, and this might be from his hand. Betty measures 5", and the drawing is numbered 47 in the lower right. Matted with an opening of 10.15" x 8" (with top pegholes showing); framed with glass for an overall size of 18.75" x 16.25". Frame is sold as-is. Fine condition.
