DescriptionMulan Original Storyboard Animation Art (Walt Disney, 1998).
Mulan was released by Walt Disney Pictures on 6/19/98. The film was the 36th animated feature from Disney and the ninth film of the Disney Renaissance (1989 - 1998). Mulan is based on the Chinese legend of Hua Mulan. In the film, The Huns, led by the ruthless Shan Yu, invade China, breaching the Great Wall. As a result of the invasion, each family is given a conscription notice. Mulan's father, Fa Zhou, is ordered to serve in the army. However, due to his age and previous war injuries, it is unlikely he will survive. Against her family's wishes, Mulan secretly disguises herself as a man, then takes her father's conscription notice, armor, and weapons so that he will not have to go. In this lot we have three storyboard panels from Mulan. The storyboards show Cri-Kee, the cricket, Mushu, a dragon and one of the Fa family's guardian spirits, previously demoted after misguiding one of the Fa family ancestors and Li Shang, the son of an army general, Shang aspires to succeed his father as the leader of "China's greatest troops". The storyboards each measure approximately 9.5" x 5.5" and are housed in a frame of 15" x 23.5". A storyboard is a graphic representation of how the film will unfold, shot by shot. It's made up of a number of panels with illustrations or pictures representing each shot and what's going on in the scene. The illustrations are rendered in graphite on animation paper. These rare pieces of animation art would be a nice acquisition by any discerning collector as storyboards are considered very hard to find. Frame is sold as-is. Artwork is in Very Good condition.
