Description

Mouse Cleaning Tom Animation Drawing Sequence of 5 (MGM, 1948). Reminiscent of a baseball outfielder, Tom dives to save himself from an eggy mess in this swift sequence of 5 original animation drawings from his MGM short Mouse Cleaning. Debuting on December 11, 1948 under the co-direction of Bill Hanna and Joe Barbera, this short followed Jerry's antics in making a mess of the house that Tom has been left in charge of keeping clean. Diving into view for a memorably athletic scene, Tom can be spotted managing to making the save beginning near the 3:44 timestamp when viewed online. He has been rendered in graphite and colored pencil across the 12 field sheets to image areas ranging from just his hand at 3" x 1.5" to an incredible full-figure spanning nearly the full page width at 11" x 4". The sheets each bear a studio stamp at the lower edge that reads Prod 182 Sc 29 and are numbered in the lower right including even numbers between 2 - 12. This short has notably been edited for television airings and left out of most home media releases due to its inclusion of the controversial stereotype-driven character commonly known as Mammy Two Shoes, but recently saw a rare remastered Blu-ray/DVD release in December 2025. With typical handling and edge wear including faint age-related toning, and minor corner creasing, overall this breakneck sequence is in Very Good condition.
