DescriptionMother Goose Goes Hollywood Harpo Marx Animation Drawings Sequence of 4 (Walt Disney, 1938). For fans of Old Hollywood celebrates and classic Mother Goose rhymes, this Wilfred Jackson-directed short, first shown in theaters on 12/23/38, is a double treat. And, if you are crazy about those madcap Silver Screen comedians, the Marx Brothers, and brother Harpo in particular, here is something extra-special! This is a rare sequence of four original 12 field animation drawings of Harpo Marx as one of Hugh "Old King Cole" Herbert's Fiddlers Three. Here we see Harpo as he takes bow in hand and gets ready to... no, not play a tune, as he smashes the violin over his knee in the very next scene! This sequence can be seen in online viewings beginning at the 1:34 mark, with the final drawing seen at the 1:36 mark. The art is in graphite with subtle red and green pencil highlights, and are noted in the lower right corner as 201C, 207, 218, and 224, with an average figure size of 7". The overall condition is Very Good, with light paper toning and minor handling wear.
