Moth and the Flame Lady Moth Animation Drawings Sequence of 4 (Walt Disney, 1938).
A bevy of voracious moths infest Ye Olde Costume Shop in Walt Disney's Moth and the Flame. When a beautiful young girl moth is seduced by a hypnotic candle flame, her young boyfriend moth ignores her while he devours a bolo hat. He soon notices her trapped in a spider web with the fire attacking her. He makes several attempts to save her, ultimately he is successful. Moth and the Flame is a Silly Symphony short which debuted on 4/1/38. This is a beautiful classic Silly Symphony cartoon that's almost forgotten. From this artfully crafted short we have a superb sequence of four vintage drawings of the lady moth and the alluring flame. The artwork was rendered in graphite with colored pencil on 12 field 5-peghole animation paper. The image of the moth measures 3.75" and the flame measures 5.5" tall. One of the flame drawings has the color callouts noted on the piece. You can see this sequence around the 2:40 mark in the short. Edge wear and small tears on the top edge of the lady moth illustration, a torn peghole on one of the flame pieces, mild age-related toning. Otherwise Good condition.
