Moose Hunters Group of 2 Goofy and Donald Duck Animation Drawings (Walt Disney, 1937). Mickey, Donald, and Goofy have decided to try their hand at moose hunting - and all three have disguised themselves; Mickey as a bush on stilts, and Donald and Goofy as a seductive lady moose. Neither of the shoddy costumes works out all that well. Disney great Ben Sharpsteen directs this studio effort from the same year that Snow White was released. Art Babbit, Norm Ferguson, and Clyde Geronimi all contribute animation. Enormous drawings of both characters with full-body depictions, which take up nearly half the frame. Two bull moose are fighting for the affections of the horned "lady moose." Donald and Goofy, still in their raggedy costume, climb up a pine tree to escape the brawl, and nearly fall off the end of a branch. The drawings can be seen at the 7:02 point in the film, as they cling to the spindly little tree branch, just inches away from the battle which rages beneath them. Hilarious pair of drawings in sequence of two Disney stars, together on the same page. (Oftentimes, Disney artists animated characters appearing in the same shot on different paper and on multiple cels.) They have been rendered in graphite and colored pencil on 12 field 5-peghole animation paper. Minor handing and toning of paper; crease in top left corner of one drawing.
