Mickey's Trailer Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck Animation Drawings Sequence of 3 (Walt Disney, 1938). Mickey, Donald, and Goofy are on a cross country road trip, with their house trailer in tow. For some reason, Goofy has been elected driver. Of course, Goofy unhitches the trailer by mistake - and sends it on a wild ride careening down a steep mountain road. In the peculiar manner of cartoon physics, of course, the trailer ends up re-attaching itself to Goofy's car - and all parties emerge unscathed. These drawings can be seen near the 6:54 mark in the film. Mickey and Donald have just narrowly avoided the first of two near run-ins with a train. In the first of these three wonderfully expressive (and wonderfully funny) drawings, Donald is on his knees, saying a prayer, while Mickey is doing a surprise "take" out of the back window as he sees the train quickly approaching. Next, we see Donald and Mickey as they breathe a sigh of relief to each other. And lastly, they both look out of the window in horror at the imminent danger. This short was released on May 6, 1938 and was directed by Ben Sharpsteen. "Frenchy" de Tremaudan, Cy Young, and Clyde Geronimi all contributed animation to the film. The story was later adapted to "Mickey Mouse" Sunday comics, albeit with the character of Donald replaced. All three drawings are rendered in graphite and colored pencil on 12 field 5-peghole animation paper. Light creasing throughout the sequence. Drawings are in Very Good condition.
