Description

Mickey's Steam Roller Mickey Mouse Animation Drawing (Walt Disney, 1934). Mickey Mouse takes on the role of a streetworker in the charming David Hand-directed short Mickey's Steam Roller and is on his way to give Minnie and his nephews, Morty and Ferdie, a ride. The short was released on 6/16/1934 and was the first appearance of Morty and Ferdie as a pair in Disney animation after their debut in the comic Mickey's Nephews in 1932. Animators for the short included Fred Moore, Norman Ferguson, and Bob Wickersham. The wonderful 12 field 2-peghole animation drawing in this lot features Mickey in his enormous steamroller as he appears early in the short at about 0:22, blowing the vehicle's whistle with a wide smile. The drawing is rendered beautifully in graphite with color pencil and is centered on the page. It measures about 7.75'' x 6'' and is incredibly detailed, from Mickey's smile to the smoke leaking off the steamroller. The page is noted 254 in the upper right corner and is in Very Good condition with light edge and handling wear, faint age-related toning, and small areas of debris.
