Description

Mickey's Service Station Mickey Mouse Animation Drawing Sequence of 4 (Walt Disney, 1935). Mickey the mechanic pries a tire from its wheel, but the wheel has a mind of its own and decides to plant itself right on Mickey's posterior! Here is an original sequence of four 12 field 2-peghole animation drawings from this wild sequence, which begins at about the 2:55 timestamp. Mickey's Service Station was one of Mickey's last black and white appearances! This was also the first short to team Mickey with Donald Duck and Goofy. Ben Sharpsteen was the director; the cartoon was released on 3/16/35. The first drawing is noted as 123 and is in graphite with an approximate image size of 3.75" x 3". The next is marked 170 and occurs at 3:08; it's in graphite and yellow pencil with an image size of 2.75" x 3". Next comes 174 in graphite and yellow pencil with an image size of 3.25" x 2.25". Finally, he pries it off in the last drawing, marked 249 and seen at 3:05; this graphite with red and yellow penciling measures 3" x 4.25". The art is in Good to Very Good condition with minor handling, edge wear with a couple of small tears, and some mild age-related paper toning.
