DescriptionMickey's Service Station Animation Drawings Sequence of 6 (Walt Disney, 1935).
Mickey's Service Station introduced Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, and Goofy as a comedy trio, which would soon become a popular formula for Disney films. In this short subject film, Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck and Goofy are service station mechanics. One day Peg-Leg Pete comes by and demands that they fix a squeak in his tire. Unfortunately they are inept at making car repairs. From Mickey's Service Station we have an assortment of six drawings showing Pete in a sight gag with his car and tire and of course his ubiquitous cigar. Mickey's Service Station was directed by Ben Sharpsteen with animation by three of "Walt's Nine Old Men", Milt Kahl, Eric Larson and Woolie Reitherman. Walt provided the voice for Mickey along with Clarence Nash voicing Donald Duck and Pinto Colvig voicing Goofy. The scene depicted in these drawings starts around the 7:28 mark. The drawings were rendered in graphite with colored pencil on 12 field 2-peghole animation paper. The drawings are noted as number 13 (Pete falling, image size 6.25" x 6"), #21 (Pete landing with a thud, image size 10" x 5.5"), #29 (tire landing on Pete's head, image 10" x 7.5"), and #39 (tire around Pete's neck, image size 6" x 6"), #53 (Cigar landing on Pete, image size 4.25" x 6"), #59 (Pete with cigar and a tire around him, image size 6" x 5.5"). This is actual working production art and thus will show normal usage, and handling with most pegholes reinforced; overall condition is Very Good.
