Description

Mickey's Rival Sequence of 3 Mortimer Mouse Production Drawings (Walt Disney, 1936). "Ha-cha-cha, ladies' night! Where ladies get everything they want! And what they want, is to adore me." This fantastic sequence of three original production drawings from Mickey's Rival (1936) features Mortimer Mouse, Mickey's cocky, smooth-talking rival, in his first-ever animated appearance. In the short, Mortimer spots his "old sweetie" Minnie having a picnic with Mickey and decides to crash their date, much to Minnie's delight and Mickey's frustration. From the moment he arrives in his fancy car, Mortimer makes it his mission to one-up Mickey, pulling obnoxious pranks and flashy tricks to impress Minnie. As their rivalry intensifies, Mortimer seizes the opportunity to show off further, turning his attention to a nearby bull, unaware of the chaos he's about to unleash. Seen near the 1:10 timestamp, these 5" full-body images of Mortimer were illustrated in graphite on 12-field, 5-peghole animation paper and are numbered 38, 40, and 42. Exhibiting age-related toning and edge wear from production use, these vintage drawings remain in Good condition-a rare and exciting find for Disney animation collectors!
