Mickey's Nightmare Mickey Mouse Animation Drawings Sequence of 5 (Walt Disney, 1932). Boy, what a nightmare! In this early short, when Pluto sneaks in bed and starts licking Mickey's face, he dreams he's being kissed by his soon-to-be "bride" Minnie. Mickey then finds himself an immediate father when he is paid multiple visits from the stork, leaving him scores of mischievous little mice children! The cartoon was directed by Bert Gillett, and released to theaters on 8/13/32. In this sequence, which begins at the 4:52 mark and continues through to 5:03, a series of pillows fly through the air at Mickey. One that hits him in the face turns out to be filled with now-broken pottery! The drawings, all in graphite on 12 field 2-peghole paper, begin with a great full-figure Mickey seeing what's happening (4.5" figure size, drawing noted as 21 in the lower right corner); a pillow hitting Mickey in the face (4.75" figure size, drawing #38); a pillow flying through the air (3" x 2" image, drawing #68); Mickey knocked to the ground, picking up the heavy pillow (6.5" x 4.25", drawing #82), and finally, Mickey shaking the pottery fragments from the pillow (5.5" x 4.5" image with added red pencil art and notations, drawing #88). Yow! This last drawing has a small piece off the lower left corner (well away from the image), and all have minor paper toning and handling wear; the art is in Very Good overall condition.
