Mickey's Man Friday Mickey Mouse Publicity Drawing (Walt Disney, 1935). By 1935, Mickey Mouse was the star of the Disney Studio. This was one of the last black and white Mickey shorts. Mickey's Man Friday was directed by David Hand and released on 1/19/35. Here is an outstanding studio publicity drawing done most likely for press efforts. It showcases Mickey and his sidekick Friday in the Fort Robinson Caruso observation deck. By today's standards, Friday would be considered racially in poor taste. In the short, we never see the characters happy, as they were always under attack. This finely polished studio piece is done in graphite. Large image of 7" x 6". The drawing is attributed to Howard Wookie. One of the most detailed pieces of this era we have seen. In a frame of 19.5" x 17.5" under glass with a mat opening of 11" x 9". Frame is sold as-is. Artwork has minor handling and edge wear. Overall Very Good condition. From the Forbes Collection.Auction Info
