Description

Mickey's Circus Mickey Mouse Production Drawing (Walt Disney, 1936). "Introducing Captain Donald Duck - and his performing sea lions!" And the debacle begins. This Mickey Mouse cartoon was released on 8/8/36. Ben Sharpsteen directs - and among those who worked on the short were Disney titans Milt Kahl, Frank Thomas, and Shamus Culhane. In this short, Mickey plays a circus ringmaster who is holding a special free performance for the local orphanage. However, Donald's unruly sea lion family does not know how to take orders - the chaos they bring almost ends in destroying the entire circus. The image can be seen around the 00:38 mark when Ringmaster Mickey gives "Captain Donald" a very spirited introduction. This is a wonderfully expressive drawing, which has Mickey gesturing so energetically that his top hat will be launched into the air! Rendered in graphite on 12 field 5-peghole animation paper, with large full-body images. Slight handling, toning, and edge-wear. In Good condition.
