Description

Mickey's Circus Mickey Mouse Animation Drawing (Walt Disney, 1936). "Introducing Donald Duck! And his performing sea lions!" Presented is an exceptionally rare original rough animation drawing featuring the one and only Mickey Mouse as the ringmaster of the Ben Sharpsteen-directed theatrical short Mickey's Circus. The film was released on 8/1/1936 and featured the animation work of Shamus Culhane, Al Eugster, and two of "Walt's Nine Old Men" Milt Kahl and Frank Thomas. Believed to be created for the moments beginning at the :35 mark of the short, this picture-perfect full-figure pose is must-have Mickey Mouse. Mickey is rendered in graphite on 12 field 7-peghole animation paper (two additional pegholes have been punched to realign the image during the animation process). Mickey measures 4.5" tall, and the drawing is numbered 292 in the upper right corner. The piece is matted with a window size of 11" x 8.75" and an overall mat size of 15.5" x 13.75". Minor handling and edge wear with age-related toning and reinforced pegholes. The condition is Good.
