Description

Mickey's Circus Mickey Mouse Animation Drawing (Walt Disney, 1936). "Introducing Captain Donald Duck and his performing sea lions!" Mickey and Donald are ready to give the orphan mice at their circus the performance of their lives, and those mice are going to get that one way or the other. This magnificent 12 field 5-peghole animation drawing was created for the Ben Sharpsteen-directed short Mickey's Circus. This was the first short to include Donald's redesign after the 1936 short Donald and Pluto and featured our favorite mouse running the show as the ringmaster with animation by Milt Kahl, Jack Hannah, Frank Thomas, Wolfgang Reitherman, and more. Mickey introduces Donald and his trained sea lions with a flourish early on at about 0:39, full figure and dressed to impress with a lovely circus coat. He does his best, but the children soon grow bored and take matters into their own hands. Mickey is rendered beautifully in graphite with color pencil and measures around 7.75'' x 3.75'' on the page, marked 48 in the lower right and noted for scene 2 along the bottom edge of the page. Very Good condition overall for this showstopping vintage animation drawing with light edge and handling wear and faint age-related toning.
