Description

Mickey's Circus Animation Drawings Sequence of 3 (Walt Disney, 1936). Mickey Mouse is hosting a circus featuring Donald Duck and a trio of sea lions in Disney's 1936 short subject film, Mickey's Circus. After Mickey introduces the performers, Donald enters the ring only to be stampeded by the sea lions and a young sea lion pup. When each trick is finished, the sea lions beg to be fed, throwing their balls at Donald and pointing to their mouths. Before Donald can feed the last sea lion, the pup intervenes and steals the fish. The resulting tug-of-war ends in the sea lions fighting over the fish. You can see this scene play out in this wonderful sequence of drawings showing Donald after being hit in the mouth with a fish. You will find these images around the 7:48 mark in the short subject film. Animation was done by two of "Walt's Nine Old Men", Milt Kahl and Frank Thomas along with Shamus Culhane. These are great images! Rendered in graphite on 12 field animation paper; noted as 9, 15 and 103 in the bottom right. Mild age-related toning and edge wear. Condition is Very Good.
