Mickey Mouse 50th Birthday Studio Publicity Artwork (Walt Disney, 1978). "I only hope that we don't lose sight of one thing -- that it was all started by a mouse." In 1928, Walt Disney and Ub Iwerks would create a little character that would go on to be the most recognizable cartoon figure in the world. In 1978, Disney would celebrate Mickey's 50th birthday in grand style which included among other things, a 90-minute special that aired on The Wonderful World of Disney on November 19, 1978 and year-long celebration at Disneyland. In this lot we have an original piece of published artwork used to promote Mickey's 50th birthday. This is one-of-a-kind studio produced artwork by Disney artists used for promotional purposes. The art was later given to Lee Reem, a long-time studio executive, as a gift. This is a fantastic piece of art measuring a whopping 18" x 16.5" in a frame of 24" x 22.5" under glass. Frame sold as-is. Very Good condition. From the Lee Reem Collection.
