Mickey and the Beanstalk/The Legend of Happy Valley Figaro and Donald Duck Storyboard Drawings Group of 12 (Walt Disney, 1940-1947). This cartoon was part of the animated feature film Fun and Fancy Free. However, it began during the making of Fantasia when Bill Cottrell and T. Hee pitched a "Jack and the Beanstalk" idea using Mickey Mouse. The proposed stand-alone feature film was to be titled The Legend of Happy Valley. It began pre-production on 5/2/40 but was eventually halted on 10/27/41 due to the animator's strike and World War II. Originally, some Pinocchio characters were going to be used in the first draft. This is a series of twelve original storyboards from the first pass of Mickey and Beanstalk in 1940. They feature Donald Duck (In his sailor outfit) meeting up with the giant's cat... none other than Figaro! Great graphite images of their encounter on 8.5" x 7" storyboard panels. Amazing detail to the artwork. This is a fascinating look into the very early planning of this film. One storyboard as a tear on top center away from artwork. Pinholes in corners, Minor handling and edge wear; overall condition is Very Good.
