Description

Melody Time "Pecos Bill" Pecos Bill and Coyotes Pastel Storyboard Group of 2 by Joe Rinaldi (Walt Disney, 1948). "Ol' Ma Coyote hurryin' home. She was due for a shock at her journey's end, for the stork had delivered a dividend, plum unusual!" The wild and endearing early years of the titular protagonist of the Melody Time segment "Pecos Bill" take the spotlight in this lot, with two terrific pastel storyboards of Bill and his new coyote family by the hand of Joe Rinaldi (1914 - 1974), the famed storyboard artist. Rinaldi's career at Disney started with his work on the Fantasia segment "The Pastoral Symphony," and continued with story development on Dumbo, and story work on influential films like Cinderella, Alice in Wonderland, and Peter Pan. Created to plan for what appears on screen at approximately the 1:00:30 mark of the movie, these storyboards show slightly different versions of Pecos Bill sleeping soundly next to his new siblings as Ma' Coyote witnesses the adorable scene, done in a 12-field five-peghole animation sheet and board, with image sizes of roughly 9" x 7". The storyboards overall show normal age-related toning, typical handling and edge wear from production, and light pastel smudging. Some crumpling can be seen on the paper storyboard. In Good to Very Good condition.
