Description

Marge Buell Little Lulu Signed Comic Strip Original Art (Saturday Evening Post, c. 1940s). Little Lulu finds an opportunity to do her part at the Mapletown Victory Gardens in this fantastic original Little Lulu comic strip by Marge Buell (1904 - 1993). This cartoon was originally published in The Saturday Evening Post, highlighting the importance of America's World War II Victory Gardens. Faced with having to feed an expanded military and a hungry population, the US government reintroduced the idea of War Gardens from World War I. They rebranded them as Victory Gardens for the second World War, with the purpose of becoming a stronger, healthier nation, encouraging proper storage and preparation, saving on the cost of produce, providing opportunities for gardening, and boosting the overall morale of the the United States. The prolific Marge Buell, creator of the iconic Litttle Lulu, contributes to the cause with this fantastic strip, signed in the lower right corner. The strip is rendered ink and watercolor on Bristol board, framed under glass with a mat window size of 7" x 8.75" and an overall frame size of 14.75" x 16.5". All frames are sold as-is. Photos are not representative of actual frame condition. Minor handling with faint age-related toning, overall the condition is Very Good.
