Description
Marc Davis Meditation Original Conté Drawing (Walt Disney, 1941). "This was another professional model. Sometimes we hired models on weekends. We were serious about our art." This is a stellar original signed drawing by the hand of Disney Legend Marc Davis (1913 - 2000), created during an after-hours figure drawing class at the Walt Disney Studio. Rendered in conté crayon on paper, this expressive and gestural drawing was selected by Marc Davis for his one-man exhibit The Art of Marc Davis at the Howard Lowery Gallery in Burbank, CA. This exhibit ran from 12/15/1993 to 1/28/1994, and the piece is highlighted on page 48 of the exhibit catalog (prints of the cover and page are included in this lot). In addition, a print of this very drawing is displayed in Disneyland's prestigious and exclusive Club 33, making it a highly coveted original work for Disney collectors. Framed under Plexiglas with a mat window size of 16" x 22" and an overall frame size of 28.5" x 34.5", this piece was displayed in the home of Marc and Alice Davis for many years. All frames are sold as-is. Photos are not representative of actual frame condition.
