Little Hiawatha World War II Insignia Art by Hank Porter (Walt Disney, c. 1940s). Legendary Disney artist Hank Porter (1900 - 1951) created this hand-drawn World War II insignia design featuring young Indian brave Little Hiawatha. It was used on the HMCS Capilano, a River-Class frigate ship that served with the Royal Canadian Navy, a convoy escort in the Battle of the Atlantic. The ship was named after Lake Capilano in North Vancouver, BC. Adorable image of Little Hiawatha paddling his canoe, drawn in graphite and blue pencil on onionskin paper measuring approximately 8" x 9.5", with a cute 6" image. The ID number 1247 is written in the lower right. Minor handling. Fine condition.
