Description

Little Hiawatha Rabbit Animation Production Drawing (Walt Disney, 1937). "Do not shoot us, Hiawatha." A baby bunny rabbit prepares to be hunted in this spectacular animation drawing from Little Hiawatha, a popular Silly Symphony Sound Cartoon production by Walt Disney Studios! Walt Disney's Little Hiawatha was loosely inspired by "The Song of Hiawatha" by renowned poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow and follows the titular character attempting to hunt game near a river. The Silly Symphonies short film was produced in 1937, while Walt Disney Studios animators were being encouraged to attend continuing educational courses and production on Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs was nearing completion. While the mighty Little Hiawatha didn't win any awards, the heightened artistic quality of this short film is still appreciated by animation enthusiasts today. This animation production drawing of Little Hiawatha's expressive costar is accomplished in graphite pencil and was prepared for a sequence that appears approximately around the 3:35-3:40 marks of the motion picture. The artwork has an image size of 5" x 6.5", on animation paper measuring 12" x 10" and is in Very Good condition, exhibiting a few spots of foxing and wear. This rare, late-1930s original developmental drawing is in Very Good condition, exhibiting expected age-related toning, minor tears and wear, and is a magnificent testament to the heightened quality of storytelling produced by Walt Disney Studios!
