DescriptionLilo & Stitch Original Storyboard Artwork (Walt Disney, 2002).
Production of Lilo & Stitch began when then-Disney CEO Michael Eisner decided that in the wake of a number of high-profile and large-budget Disney animated features, the studio might try its hand at a smaller and less expensive film. Chris Sanders, a head storyboard artist at Disney Feature Animation, was approached to pitch an idea. Sanders had created the character of Stitch in 1985 for an unsuccessful children's book pitch and developed a treatment for an animated film featuring the character. Released on 6/21/02, Lilo & Stitch earned three and a half times its budget and quickly became a fan favorite. In this lot we have a fantastic piece of original storyboard art. A storyboard is a graphic representation of how the film will unfold, shot by shot. It's made up of a number of panels with illustrations or pictures representing each shot and what's going on in the scene. This storyboard panel measures 9.75" x 5.5" and is in a frame measuring 15" x 10.5". The art was rendered in graphite on animation paper and shows both Lilo and Stitch. The characters each stand 4" tall. Storyboard art is considered very rare and sought after by astute collectors. The frame is sold as-is. Artwork is in Fine condition.
