Description

Lilo & Stitch Lilo Original Production Drawings Group of 16 (Walt Disney, 2002). This is an extraordinary sequence of 16 rough animation drawings featuring the film's champion, Lilo Pelekai. Lilo & Stitch was written and directed by Chris Sanders and Dean DeBlois. Sanders and DeBlois workshopped their ideas almost entirely on their own, beginning in 1997 by bringing in a sparse team to work through the storyboarding process. Sanders grew so accustomed to using a funny voice when working out Stitch's dialogue, that he would eventually voice him in the film. Sanders proposed setting the story in Hawaii, specifically the island of Kaua'i. When visiting the "Garden Isle", the team experienced many facets of Hawaiian culture firsthand, most notably the widespread sense of connectivity and community experienced by the people who lived on the islands. This concept of "ohana" proved integral to developing the characters of Lilo & Stitch and identifying the parallels between them. Ohana is a Hawaiian word which refers to a person's extended family, which can include friends and other important social groups. These gorgeous roughs are largely attributed to supervising animator and Disney Legend, Andreas Deja. The roughs were drawn using non-copying blue pencil on 16 field animation paper. It's a great assortment of close-up Lilo images! In Very Good condition.
