Lady and the Tramp Peg Animation Drawing (Walt Disney, 1955).
Lady and the Tramp was the 15th animated feature film from the Walt Disney Studios. The film was released on 6/22/55 and tells the story of a cocker spaniel named Lady and a stray dog referred to as the Tramp. Tramp shows Lady how he lives "footloose and collar-free." During their journey they meet a number of other dogs one of which is Peg whom they met during a brief stay in the dog pound. Peg is a Tibetan spaniel voiced by Peggy Lee. Peg briefly appears at the beginning of the film when Tramp rescues her and Bull, a bulldog, from the dogcatcher. Peg later appears in the film after Lady is captured by the dogcatcher and taken to the pound. When the other dogs start to pick on Lady, Peg, who has been captured yet again by the Dogcatcher despite Tramp's rescue, steps in and tells them to stop. She easily comforts Lady, especially when one dog makes a comment about her license. In this lot we have an extraordinary production drawing of Peg. The piece was rendered in graphite on 16 field, 3-peghole animation paper. Peg measures 9" x 7" in this rare animation drawing. The drawing has a torn corner on the lower right. Edge wear and mild age-related toning. Otherwise, Good condition.
