Description

Jiminy Cricket Specialty Illustration by Ward Kimball (Walt Disney, c. 1980s). Ward Kimball (1914 - 2002), the man Walt Disney referred to as "genius," designed and animated Jiminy Cricket for Pinocchio. He drew this pair of images featuring Jiminy, doing a slight take-off on that film's classic song, "Give a Little Whistle." The art is in graphite, Conte pencil, and watercolor on paper, with image sizes of 7". Mr. Kimball signed the piece, inscribing it to prominent Disneyana collectors Ed and Elaine Levin, who for years ran a memorabilia store in Sherman Oaks, California. Ed organized the first major modern Disney fan organization, The Mouse Club, and Mr. Kimball was one of the guests at their first convention in 1982. The art is expertly shrink-wrapped to a backing board and thick cardboard, ready for hanging. Fine condition.
