Hoochie Cootchie Betty Boop and Popeye Painting by Toby Bluth (Hearst Holdings/Fleischer Studios, 2005). In 2005 Disney Artist Toby Bluth (1940 - 2013) was commissioned to create a series of images inspired by the early days of Fleischer Studio. They included scenes of Betty Boop, Popeye and others. These images were later made into giclee prints and sold in numbered editions. This is an original watercolor painting that Mr. Bluth created in the process of this commission. Betty's pose and the color palette differ in the final printed piece, making this version exceptionally unique. The image includes both Fleischer Studio superstars Betty Boop and Popeye and is rendered in watercolor on a sheet of 13" x 20" watercolor paper. It is signed by the artist in the lower right and has an area to the right of the image where he tested his colors on the border. This exceptional piece of original art shows very minor handling and condition is Fine.
