Harrison Ellenshaw "Lone Tree - Distant Valley" Original Painting (c. 2000s). A stunning little masterpiece by studio matte painter and visual effects producer Harrison Ellenshaw. Harrison began his career at the Disney Studios before joining George Lucas' effects studio, Industrial Light and Magic. There he would paint matte visual effects for Star Wars (1977) and The Empire Strikes Back (1980). He would eventually return to Disney as a miniature effects creator on The Black Hole (1979) for which he would receive an Academy Award nomination. He would go on to serve as associate producer and visual effects supervisor on TRON (1982) and ultimately become head of Disney's effects unit, Buena Vista Visual Effects. In 2016 Harrison was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award by the Art Directors' Guild for his contributions to the entertainment industry as a matte painter and visual effects pioneer. This impressive little 5" x 7" gouache on canvas is framed to 12" x 10". Frame is sold as-is. The original is signed by the artist in paint. Excellent condition.
