Hanna-Barbera Character Comic Book Cover Cels Group of 5 (Hanna-Barbera/Charlton, 1976). This unusual group is a neat combination of Saturday Morning animated TV shows and comic book cover art. These are five comic book covers that have been printed as line art (minus the Charlton "trade dressing" of logos and price boxes) onto translucent film, and then hand-painted on the reverse, like animation cels. All five are Hanna-Barbera properties, and we believe these were done by the studio as either "color models" or as actual production art -- the colors seem to closely match the published versions. Included: Dino #16 (with Fred Flintstone); Hong Kong Phooey #6 and 7; Speed Buggy #7; and Wheelie and the Chopper Bunch #7. Each is hand-painted film with a white paper backing lightly taped from behind; image sizes average 10" x 15" (typical hand-painted comic book cover color guides are same as printed size). Minor handling; overall Very Good condition.
