Giantland Mickey Mouse Animation Drawings Sequence of 5 (Walt Disney, 1933). This Burt Gillett-directed short starts out with Mickey reading "Jack and the Beanstalk" to a large group of mice children. We then see Mickey as Jack, slipping into the giant's home through the keyhole, and landing on the dinner table inside. Here's a wild set of five original 12 field 2-peghole animation drawings of the sequence when the giant takes his last bite of the cheese sandwich Mickey has been hiding in, and Mickey winds up in his enormous mouth. The sequence begins at the 4:07 mark. Drawing #301, showing the interior of the mouth, looks like a color model, with graphite and red, blue, green, and yellow pencil highlights; the image practically fills the page, which also has added notes for painter "Sue." Drawing #32 shows a knife blade with peas that roll into the giant's mouth; it's in graphite with red highlights, and an image size of 8" x 2.5". Drawings marked 75, 90, and 130 all show Mickey as he slips around inside the giant's mouth; these are full-figure images in graphite, with a bit of red pencil on two. Mickey's image sizes are 3" x 3.5", 3.25" x 2", and 2.75" x 2.25". The giant's mouth drawing is in Good condition with paper toning and handling/edge wear, and reinforced pegholes. The remaining drawings are in Very Good condition, with minor handling/edge wear and paper toning.Auction Info
