Garfield and Odie "Subway Series" Baseball-Themed Illustration Original Art, Signed by Jim Davis (PAWS, 2000). Garfield and Odie celebrate the 2000 World Series between the New York Yankees and the New York Mets in this original one-of-a-kind drawing. The year 2000 saw one of many so-called "Subway Series" played in New York over the years, going back to the "Trolley Series" played by the NY Giants and Brooklyn Bridegrooms in 1889. Interestingly, our cartoon pals seem to easily switch sides, each donning blue Mets and black Yankees caps in the vignette drawings; for the final centerpiece, it's Garfield as a victorious Yankee! The art, produced by the PAWS Studio, is in graphite and color pencils over a blue pencil underdrawing. It includes a blind-embossed PAWS seal in the lower left, and is signed by Garfield creator Jim Davis in the lower right. Matted with an opening of 15.5" x 12.5", framed with Plexiglas for an overall size of 23.75" x 20.74". Frame sold as-is. Fine condition.
