Description
Galactic Patrol Lensman Rough Animation and Layout Drawings Group of 18 (Madhouse, c. 1984-85). A grand collection of 18 original rough animation drawings featuring the heroes and villains of Galactic Patrol Lensman is presented here for your consideration. This futuristic story was produced by Madhouse as a feature film in July 1984 with a 25-episode follow-up series debuting that October, all based on the 1960s Lensman novels by E. E. "Doc" Smith. These drawings feature several characters including the main hero Kimball "Kelly" Kinnison and his close friend Peter Van Buskirk as well as what appear to be some of the alien antagonists. Many of the drawings are presented as character studies with multiple overlapping sketches per page. The drawings have all been rendered loosely in graphite and/or colored pencil to image areas ranging from 5.5" x 5.5" to 10" x 8.75" across the lot on three sheets of 10 field Madhouse Studio layout paper, fourteen sheets of 10 field animation paper, and one sheet of 12 field animation paper. Please note the single 12 field sheet has a 4" x 7" portion torn from a lower corner, though it does not affect the main image area. With typical handling and edge wear including light age-related toning and minor corner creasing, overall this rare collection of production art is in Good to Very Good condition.More information about Madhouse Artist.
