Description

Fun and Fancy Free "Mickey and the Beanstalk" Mickey Mouse Animation Drawing (Walt Disney, 1947). "Mickey never misses a trick." This full-figure final animation drawing of Mickey Mouse was created by Walt Disney Studios animator Fred Moore (1911-1952) and his assistant in production of the animated feature, and a cel painting was made directly from it. Mickey, Donald Duck, and Goofy climb the beanstalk to rescue the Singing Harp from Willie the Giant in the film's Mickey and the Beanstalk segment. Seen in action near the 1:03:42 timestamp of the film, when Mickey aims to trick Willie into turning himself into a tiny fly so that he and his companions can smack him with a fly swatter. Instead, Willie proposes "a bunny with long pink ears," so Mickey nonchalantly twirls his tail and issues a challenge: "well, of course, if you can't do a fly..." Fred Moore, one of Walt Disney's most brilliant animators of the 1930s and 1940s, supervised the animation of this scene. The under-drawing in red pencil throughout the figure is his work. Rendered in graphite and colored pencil, the image of Mickey measures approximately 3.75" x 4.75" on a 12 field 5-peghole sheet of animation paper. With minor age-toning, one peghole support, slight production handling and edgewear. This piece is in Very Good condition.
