Description

Fun and Fancy Free Background Layout Art (Walt Disney, 1947). Fun and Fancy Free was the fourth of the "package films" from Walt Disney in the 1940s. The "Mickey and the Beanstalk" portion of the film would be the last time Walt Disney would voice Mickey Mouse, as he was getting too busy working on other projects to continue voicing the iconic character. Put forward in this lot is a fantastic background layout drawing showing Willie the Giant's castle door from sequence 10, scene 7. Layout drawings are usually drawn from storyboards which define the action and perspective in the scene. Because storyboard artists draw backgrounds in a rough, simplified style, background layout artists take them to the next level by defining the detail and perspective. Layout drawings are then given to the background painters to color and complete the visual style. This amazing piece exhibits quite a bit of detail and would be a fine acquisition for any astute collector of animation art. Rendered in graphite on 12 field, 5-peghole animation paper. The artwork is enclosed in a frame measuring 19" x 17.25" with a glass front and a mat opening of 11.75" x 9.25". Frame sold as-is. Three of the five pegholes have been re-enforced. Age-related toning with superficial wrinkling and a fold crease in the center. Condition is Good.
