Description

Fred Moore - Signed "Freddie's Girl" Original Illustration (c. 1940s). Wearing a flustered expression seemingly from being caught in a state of undress, offered in this lot is a shining example of a coveted "Freddie's Girl" by the masterful hand Disney Legend Fred Moore (1911 - 1952). After being hired in 1930 at only 19, Moore would become highly regarded by Walt thanks to his unparalleled natural drawing ability. This quintessential "Freddie's Girl" was created as a gift with the inscription indicating the intended recipient as Camille, with love, and Moore's signature present below. The lovely piece has been hand-drawn in graphite and mixed media to a character height of 10.75" on 12 field 5-peghole animation paper that has been trimmed slightly and mounted to board with an overall size of 9" x 12.25". This drawing was originally held in the personal archive of another Disney Legend, Ollie Johnston (1912 - 2008), with similar artwork featured on page 121 of Johnston's 1981 co-authored book Disney Animation The Illusion of Life (prints included for reference). With typical handling and edge wear including age-related toning and the noted trimming, overall this outstanding illustration is in Very Good condition.
From the Disney Legend Inductee Andreas Deja Collection.
