    Description

Frank Sinatra Painting by Paul Wenzel (Walt Disney, c. 1950s). Frank Sinatra? Did he appear in any Disney movies? Well no, but there's a great story to this piece. Paul Wenzel began working at Walt Disney in 1958, creating painted illustrations for live-action movie posters. This excellent portrait of Ol' Blue Eyes was one of the items in his art portfolio when he first applied at the studio. So, in a way, Sinatra was Paul's ticket to the Magic Kingdom! It paved the way for a career with Disney that lasted for 42 years and thousands of illustrations, including the one of Walt that was made into a US Postage stamp in 1968. This oil on board painting is matted with an opening of 10.5" x 10.5", with an overall mat size of 16.5" x 17". Mr. Wenzel has signed the mat below the right corner of the painting. A protective clear acetate overlay is taped to the mat. Painting is in Fine condition. All together now -- Dooby dooby doo....
